The most noticeable geographical features of the Makalu Expedition are lateral moraine and glaciers; these are the places where you will walk and where you will climb. The Makalu Expedition is challenging, and there are four camps at

Camp I will be set up at the glacial plateau, from where you will walk towards the Makalu Pass through the steep slope. When you reach 7000 m, there are strong winds and deep snow trails. While summiting Makalu, you are following the North West Ridge. You climb Makalu to reach the summit of the fifth-highest mountain in the world, while some climb the summit for skiing. Day 01 Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport (standard accommodation)
Arrive in Kathmandu on the date that you have planned for or at the most suitable time you have decided. Stay calm about the pick-up; we will wait for you outside the airport to take you to our office and the hotel. Our office remains open from 9 A.M. to 6 P.M. Kathmandu is known as the city of temples, and it is the most developed city in Nepal as we write these words in this itinerary. You will be staying in Thamel, the central tourist hub in Kathmandu. If you stay in a 5-star hotel, it will be outside Thamel.
Day 02 Sightseeing with breakfast and climbing preparations (standard accommodation)
Kathmandu is dotted with world heritage sites, and the most famous of them are mentioned below

★ Kathmandu Durbar Square
You will visit each of these with our city guide, and they will take you to the past. Those were the glorious days of Nepal. Day 03 Fly from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar and drive to Khadbari (4 meals provided, standard accommodation)
Tumlingtar is a small hilly town, and so is its airport. Its airport has a metalled runaway. From the airport, it is a 2-hour drive to Khadbari, a village of the Newar and the Rai people. Moreover, it is an administrative centre of the Makalu Barun National Park.
Day 04 From Khadbari to Chichira (4 meals provided, tented camp)
You start your trek by following a trekking trail through beautiful villages, including Mane Bhanjyang. Next, you walk on a ridge and a small pass called the Bhotebas. From the top of this pass, you will see the stunning view of Makalu, and you will walk downhill to the forest and a village called Chichira.
Day 05 From Chichira to Num (4 meals provided, tented camp)
You will follow the trekking trail heading to Kuwapani village. Then, the course will take you to the Daju La pass. This is a small pass; at the top, there is a place to see a nice view of the distant mountain. As usual, you will descend from the pass to reach the dense forest and a village called Num.
Day 06 From Num to Seduwa (4 meals provided, tented camp)
Follow the trekking trail going downhill to the suspension bridge over the Arun River; after crossing the bridge, it is an uphill walk to the dense forest and Seduwa. This is a beautiful village and a trading centre.
Day 07 From Seduwa to Tashigaon (4 meals provided, tented camp)
The trekking trail is easy up to Murmidanda. From there, the course goes uphill to Nurbugaon and the dense forest. It also takes you to the agricultural land and Tashigaon.
Day 08 From Tashigaon to Kauma Danda (4 meals provided, tented camp)
Today you will be walking only uphill. On the way, you come across a village called Unisha. Then, following another uphill trekking trail, you will head to Kauma Danda.
Day 09 From Kauma Danda to Mumbuk via Kauma La, Tutu-La, and Keke La (4 meals provided, tented camp)
Today you are crossing 4000 m passes and seeing the breathtaking view of the mountains of Makalu, Chamlang, Baruntse, Kanchenjunga, and Jannu. On the way, you will come across the Kalo Pokhari. Then, you will get the Amlang Range and Tibet view from the Keke La Pass. As usual, it is always a downhill walk to the forest and village.
Day 10 From Mumbuk to Nehe Kharka (4 meals provided, tented camp)
Today you will follow a downhill trekking trail to reach the Barun River. From this river, the trekking trail becomes steep and takes you to the landslide area. From this area, you head to Nehe Kharka.
Day 11 From Nehe Kharka to Shersong (4 meals provided, tented camp)
The trekking trail takes you to the Barun River again, including Yangri Kharka, the rhododendron, pine, fir forest, and Langmale Kharka. You will also be trekking on the lateral moraine. The trekking also goes by the glacial lake. Later, it becomes an easy trekking trail and takes you to Shersong.
Day 12 From Shersong to the Makalu Base Camp (4 meals provided, tented camp)
The uphill trekking trail takes you to the top of the moraine and heads to a small bridge and the Makalu Base Camp.
Day 13-43 Climbing Mt. Makalu and back to Base Camp (4 meals provided, tented camp)
The Sherpas will set up camps at higher altitudes and decide on the climbing route. They will also cook meals for you, and they will also tell you when to acclimatise. The Sherpas undertake to overcome technical difficulties while climbing Makalu and weather forecasting. When you reach the summit, you will spend a short time there. The summit offers the world's best view of Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Nuptse, and Baruntse. From the summit, you will retrace the climbing route.
Day 44 From the Makalu Base Camp to Mumbuk (4 meals provided, tented camp)
The Sherpas will pack up the climbing equipment, and you will start your trek from the base camp. First, you retrace the trekking trail to Shersong and Nehe Kharka. From Nehe Kharka, the easy trekking trail takes you to Mumbuk.
Day 45 From Mumbuk to Tashigaon (4 meals provided, tented camp)
You retrace the trekking trail to small passes and Kauma Danda. From there, after trekking for some hours, you head to Tashigaon.
Day 46 From Tashigaon to Num (4 meals provided, tented camp)
As you walk downhill trekking trail, you reach the forest, agricultural land, and Narbugaon. This trail is easy, and you are once again in Seduwa. It also heads to the Arun River and climbs uphill to take you to Num.
Day 47 From Num to Khadbari (4 meals provided, standard accommodation)
Today also, you will retrace the trekking trail and find the course very steep. Finally, you will reach the forest and a small pass called the Daju La. This ongoing trail takes you to Kuwapani, Chichira, and Mane Bhanjyang. Besides, you will see the stunning view of Makalu. Seeing this, you will walk and reach Khadbari.
Day 48 From Khadbari to Tumlingtar (4 meals provided, standard accommodation)
You take a jeep to drive from Khadbari to Tumlingtar. You pass through several villages and see the locals working in the fields.
Day 49 From Tumlingtar to Kathmandu. (Breakfast and lunch provided, standard accommodation)
Enjoy a scenic 45-minute flight from a hilly area to the valley of Kathmandu.
Day 50 Leisure Day in Kathmandu (breakfast provided, standard accommodation)
Take a rest and explore Thamel. This place always has got something for a tourist like you. Every tourist loves this place.
Day 51 Departure (breakfast provided)
We will pick you up at the hotel three hours before your international flight and take you to Tribhuwan International Airport. So goodbye, and we wish you good luck for a safe journey.
